Added Safe and Sound and Alchemy to the plays page.
Monday, 10 Mar 2008
Added the next installment of 'The Widow and the Wizard'.
Wednesday, 5 Mar 2008
Added the next installment of 'The Widow and the Wizard'.
Saturday, 1 Mar 2008
Just realized I forgot to upload the religion/ directory with the rest of the redesign. Whoops. :)
Thursday, 21 Feb 2008
Fleshed out the books page. Reorganized the writing pages (into new and old, rather than finished, in progress, and old) and darkened the date stamps on each. Added the blog.
Wednesday, 20 Feb 2008
Decluttered the language pages, removing all the external links. (From now on I'm only including the stuff I've actually made, with rare exceptions.) It looks a lot better now that it's cleaned up. :) Also added in the stuff I've done on Riverglen Press (the script cards and such), including Hebrew, Old English, and Old Icelandic in the lineup. And I also darkened the main text font a little bit, so that it isn't so glaring, and so that there's contrast with the headings. Updated the 404 page. Fleshed out the writing section. Still remaining on the to-do list: get the blog up and figure out what to do with the art/design section.
Tuesday, 19 Feb 2008
Finally finished this redesign and uploaded it. A lot of old pages have been removed, because they were cruft. I don't think they'll be missed.
Monday, 22 Oct 2007
Decided to stop neglecting this site. :) With a new makeover and a skeletal upheaval, I think Blank Slate is back in business.
Wednesday, 8 Aug 2007
Added the dashboard.
Wednesday, 3 Jan 2007
"Is it dead? It hasn't moved in a while." "No, I think it's still alive,
barely." "Maybe we should wake it up." "Go ahead and try." ~hmmph~ As
you may have noticed (ahem), it's been a long while since I've done much with
this site. Nine months, actually. Since I don't want to get slammed with
negligence charges, I've got plans to rework this site into the larger scheme
of things (viz., my other websites), but I'm still not sure how it's going to
fit in. Anyway, I hope I'll have time to do all that soon, but if not, it'll
happen after I graduate in April.
Saturday, 8 Apr 2006
You know, it'd be a whole lot easier if this news page were a blog. Hmm...
Maybe I can get WordPress integrated in... Anyway, I'm converting all of
the files to Unicode encoding (I thought they already were, but now
I'm finding that most of them aren't). I'm also going to be thinking of
ways to make this site better, for it has languished in the neglected dust
for far too long. Oh, I've started adding images to the pages, as
decorations. Some (like the book on the Language page) are lame, and I'll
be replacing those soon.
Monday, 3 Apr 2006
Changed the layout.
Saturday, 2-11-06
Whoa, has it really been six months? Goodness. Well, I made some slight
changes to the theme. Much better than before, I think. But it's still
not quite where I want it -- I'll be working on it more over the next
while.
Monday, 8-22-05
Added the Favorite songs page.
Sunday, 8-7-05
Added Korean to the Moroni 10:3-5
page. Wow, I haven't really updated this site in a very long time...
Wednesday, 6-15-05
Added Cakchiquel,
Guarani,
Kekchi,
Mam, and
Mayan to the Moroni 10:3-5 page. Now
that school's out I can finally start working on this website in earnest
again, and one of my first projects will be to go through all the language
links, weeding out the dead ones and planting new ones.
Tuesday, 6-7-05
Added Tongan to the Moroni 10:3-5
page.
Saturday, 5-28-05
Added the title of the Book of Mormon
in Yapese and Mayan, and added the second part of the Bahasa Indonesian
title. Also fixed a spelling error in the Armenian title.
Monday, 5-16-05
Sunday, 5-15-05
Saturday, 5-14-05
Removed my SEALang and Land of Smiles blogs, since I have no time to
update them separately. I haven't been doing a very good job of updating
this site, but that will probably change soon. Slightly changed the banner
to use the sun instead of the yellow circle.
Tuesday, 4-26-05
Wow, it's been a long time since I've done anything on here. Uploaded
"Will I Leave a Legacy?" to My Music.
Wednesday, 3-23-05
Created two new blogs: SEALang
(Southeast Asian Languages), which will become the hub for my research in
Thai linguistics, and Land of
Smiles, a blog about Thai culture (cooking, history, etiquette, etc.).
I think I'm going blog-crazy. :)

Created a blog, Top
of the Mountains.
Sunday, 3-6-05
Added a link to Steven Yates's article "The Harsh Truth
About Government Schools" to the education page.

Saturday, 12-11-04
Added
Fijian,
Hawaiian,
Indonesian,
Maori,
Navajo,
Samoan, and

Added the Thai Proclamation on the
Family.

Ukrainian to the Moroni 10:3-5
page.
Friday, 11-19-04
Added Quechua and
Quiche to the Moroni 10:3-5 page.
Added the Thai on Computers page. Updated

Removed the Current Projects and Site Map pages. Added
Finnish,
Hungarian, and
Portuguese to the Moroni
10:3-5 page.

Added The Book of Mormon's Witness of
Christ. Also added Keeping Up Your
Thai.

Added Welsh to the Moroni 10:3-5 page.

Thursday, 10-28-04
Updated the CSS a little bit, changed the logo, and added some new artwork
to The Gallery.
Friday, 10-22-04
Changed the default font from Verdana to Trebuchet MS. I'll be working on
the site more in the near future.
Friday, 9-10-04
Added Etruscan to the language
pages.
Thursday, 9-9-04
Added the Lambdin quote to the language page.
Monday, 9-6-04
Started rewriting the site. Got rid of the Scimath page and the
weblog and the site guide. Renamed some of the pages.
Monday, 8-23-04
Updated a lot of stuff. Yes, there is a two-year gap between the last
entry and this one. :)
Saturday, 8-17-02
Uploaded my farewell talk in MP3.
Tuesday, 8-13-02
Removed my e-mail address and IM info from the site (since I won't be
available except via snail mail until August 2004 when I get back from my
mission).
Monday, 8-5-02
Moved the mission page to its own
subdirectory and added the mission
journal and mission pictures pages.
(They're empty right now, of course, since I haven't left yet.) Added
The Fire of Curiosity to the articles
page. (It's an article I wrote for the UHEA newsletter.) Added the
Gutenberg Press logo to the gallery.
Thursday, 8-1-02
Put the romance page back up at the request of a
friend. :) Added the Days of Rain MP3s to the
music page.
Thursday, 7-25-02
Changed the copyright notice from "All rights reserved" to "You may
use, modify, and distribute this however you wish." I basically want to
get the point across that anyone can take my code here (or even the content
if they really want) and do whatever they want with it. It's public
domain. Added the etext links page. Pared
down the romance and
about me pages. Added the
TeX and
PDF versions of the Old Icelandic primer.
Wednesday, 7-24-02
Added Feeding the Hand That Feeds You
to the articles page. Added the Thai
page.
Tuesday, 7-23-02
Monday, 7-22-02
Added PfaEdit to the cool stuff page.
Wednesday, 7-17-02
Added my MSN and Yahoo IM usernames to the footer. Uploaded Unicopt

character preceding instead of hovering between both.)
Monday, 7-15-02
Added the Unicopt page.
Friday, 7-12-02
Added the HTML version and the "making
of" section to the Old Icelandic primer
page.

cool stuff page.
Thursday, 7-4-02
Added the An Icelandic Primer page and
the The Story of Mormonism page.

Changed the style of the journal entries. Now they actually fit in with
the rest of the site. :) And I changed the look of the music listings and
the gallery as well (same look).
Tuesday, 7-2-02
Added the Cool Stuff page.
Saturday, 6-29-02
Added Rainbow Valley,
Kilmeny of the Orchard,

Friday, 6-21-02
Added the Proofread page.
Wednesday, 6-19-02

Tuesday, 6-18-02
Uploaded The Ball and the Cross. Added
more etext links to the L.M. Montgomery page
(from A Celebration of Women Writers).
Thursday, 6-13-02
Worked on Linuxtype, so there's actually
useful information there now. :) Added the Current
Projects page and re-ordered the links on the home page.
Monday, 6-10-02
Added the fluxbox section to the Linux
page. Also made lots of little changes throughout the site (changing
the order of links, adding my mission address, etc.).
Thursday, 6-6-02
Added the Etexts page.
Wednesday, 6-5-02
Updated the Wacom page for those who don't
have the devices set up.
Tuesday, 6-4-02
Moved the PHP links from the Programming
Links page to the Web Development page, which
is where they should have gone in the beginning. And I sorted the
programming links so the categories are alphabetical now.
Saturday, 6-1-02
Split the journal again. I think I'll keep it
in month-sized bits from now on.
Friday, 5-31-02
Added the BYU-UUG Logo tutorial to the
Tutorials page.
Friday, 5-24-02
Updated the front page so it points to the
Mission page instead of the mission section of
the About page.
Wednesday, 5-22-02
This almost isn't worthy of note, but I added the day of week names to the
journal entries. It took a long time. :)
Sunday, 5-19-02
Moved the mission stuff to the Mission page.
And added the Thailand Tips page.
Saturday, 5-18-02
Added the Proofread logo to the Gallery.
Friday, 5-17-02
Decided I'm getting too many nasty spam messages, so I updated my address
on here to be spam-free. I also put instructions at the bottom of the
page, since inevitably there are people who would be puzzled by seeing such
a weird e-mail address. :)
Wednesday, 5-15-02
Slightly updated my resume.
Tuesday, 5-14-02
Redesigned the layout. Revised the front page text. Added a screenshot
to the About Blank Slate page. Added Blank
Slate IV to the Gallery. Removed the
BYU-UUG logos page. Added Encircled
to my fiction page. Added some more to the verdict section of the
VAIO page.
Monday, 5-13-02
Split my journal up.
Saturday, 5-11-02
Added the introductory paragraph to the About
page. The bulk of the updates recently have been in my
journal. Before long I'll put up a page on Thai,
though.
Thursday, 5-9-02
Revised the VAIO page (the verdict and
the DVD section).
Monday, 5-6-02
Added a screenshot and my fluxbox
Sleek theme to the Linux page. Put my
farewell info on the mission page.
Saturday, 5-4-02
Added the readings section to the web design
tips page.
Monday, 4-29-02
Added the final BYU-UUG logo and the LDSWriters.Net logo to
The Gallery. Added the
site guide.
Saturday, 4-27-02
Moved the entries in my weblog to my
journal and started the weblog anew. (I wasn't
really writing a weblog but rather a journal.) I put all the text on the
journal into the fiction <div>, so now it's indented. That fixed
the problem I was having with the <p> making spaces underneath. (You
probably didn't notice it, so don't worry about it. :)) Added a
screenshot of my desktop to the
Linux page. Added
Out of the Dust to the
Religion page. Added the Coptonew
Chart to the Coptic page. Added the
journal section to the About page.
Friday, 4-26-02
Updated the Striker screenshots page so it uses <div>'s instead of a
table. It's not quite how I want it, but it will suffice for now. Added
my .snd to the Linux page. Added the
weather section to the About page. Moved
the short shirts section on the About page into a
modesty section and revised the text.
Thursday, 4-25-02
Added the mission section to the About
page. Revised all my music, so the printed output isn't quite so ugly
anymore. (I switched the title font from Computer Modern to Adobe
Utopia.) I also put the dates in and changed the taglines to show the
URL to Blank Slate. And I updated the My
Music section to use <div>'s instead of a table. And I added the
gzipped PostScript versions (since the PDF's look awful onscreen). Wrote
a rather long entry in my blog. Added "Reflections" to the My Music
section.
Friday, 4-19-02
Recorded the sound my hard drive makes and put it on the
VAIO page. Added links to the pages I refer to
in here (like the VAIO page in the last sentence). But I only added them
for the first occurrence (thus there's no link for the VAIO page in the
previous sentence). Added some French and German pronunciation links.
Added my mission picture to the
About page. Added Egg and Toy Dog to the
Gallery page. And I found that if I add
enough text to the description of the picture before one that's in the
wrong place, it moves to the right place. How interesting. It's a Mozilla
0.99 bug, of course, so it doesn't really matter, but at least it won't
bother me anymore. :)
Thursday, 4-18-02
Updated my resume. Added the Linuxtype
page.
Friday, 4-12-02
Added the BMRT/Renderman section to the art
software page and added a few more links in various other places on
the site. Added my resume. Added lots of
Chesterton e-text links.
Thursday, 4-11-02
Slightly changed the background color. It feels like this site is lying
dormant, with hardly any work being done on it, but I think it'll have to
stay that way till school gets out.
Monday, 4-8-02
I haven't really done much with the site lately since I've been busy with
other things (most recently, getting my wisdom teeth taken out). School
will be getting busier in the next couple of weeks (finals start on the
20th) and so updates may be few and far between. We'll see.
Monday, 4-1-02
Made a new logo to replace #9 on the BYU-UUG
logo page. No, that is not an April Fool's joke. :) Added the 'Last
modified' bit to the footer. Wrote in my weblog.
Still slowly switching over to XHTML. Converted my fiction to the new
fiction class that indents the paragraphs. Added
'The Viking' to the poetry page. Took
the poetry page and made it XHTML
compliant (and got rid of the two-columned table).
Saturday, 3-30-02
Added the Files section to the About Blank
Slate page. Added the version 6.1 screenshot to the page as well.
Friday, 3-29-02
It looks like the Mozilla bug is indeed a Mozilla bug. My friend Byron
tried it out in Mozilla 0.9.8 and it worked fine; with the 0.9.9 that I'm
running, however, it messes up. Oh well. If it's just a Mozilla bug, I
can handle that, so long as my code is correct. :) I moved the bread crumb
into the main content area, which should make it easier to come up with a
decent color scheme. I hope. :) Okay, I've changed the color scheme
again. Back to gray. For the most part, that is. Added three logos to
the BYU-UUG logo page.
Thursday, 3-28-02
I'm still switching everything over to XHTML, little by little. I've
changed the color scheme again. I'm still not entirely satisfied. But I
have a lot of schoolwork to do, so it will have to wait. I've converted
some of the logs (news, weblog, etc.) over from the table-based format to
the CSS-based format. There's some kind of bug, though, since Mozilla
doesn't display them quite correctly (occasionally there's a space between
the date and the entry). Konqueror doesn't have a problem with it, though.
Hmm. I updated the Gallery layout as well,
but Mozilla still renders it with problems. And Konqueror has no problem
with it. Hmm.
Wednesday, 3-27-02
I've changed the color scheme slightly, so the background is now
gray. It still doesn't quite work, but I don't have time to fix it
at the moment. At least it's not so blue now. Update: I've made the
whole color scheme gray for the time being. I'll change it later, but
for now it works. I also changed the logo and found out how to put it
on the left.
Tuesday, 3-26-02
The site is ready enough to upload, but it still uses tables for some
things. That won't affect the viewing experience, though. I've
started fixing the tags so the site is XHTML compliant. I'm also
redoing a lot of things in CSS that used HTML tags before (for example,
instead of formatting my poetry with <br> tags, I wrote a
'poetry' class with 'pre' formatting and put each poem in that class).
It makes it much easier to change the formatting at a single blow. I'm
also using <em> instead of <i> and <strong> instead
of <b>, in my move to separate style and content.
Monday, 3-25-02
I'm in the process of switching the site over to CSS completely
(abandoning the table-based layout). I'm also separating style from
content, which means it'll be much easier to change the layout
in the future. And not only that, but the site will be friendlier to
viewers not on computers (e.g. on cell phones or WebTVs or Braille
devices or whatever).
Saturday, 3-23-02
Added Checker IV, Checker V, Blank Slate III, Extenso, and Huh? to
the Gallery. I should probably put the
names in quotes, huh. :) Changed favicon.ico.
Friday, 3-22-02
Added the Web Design Tips page. Added a
favicon.ico (which I don't particularly like, but it'll suffice for
now). Added a custom 404 page (for files not
found).
Thursday, 3-21-02
Moved the Making of Blank Slate section from the
Web Development page to the About Blank Slate
page. (It fits in much better there.) Revised the USB section on
the VAIO page. Added the
Wacom Graphire USB page.
Wednesday, 3-20-02
Changed the logo. I'm going to completely revamp the site soon,
changing to a new layout (relying extensively on CSS and perhaps some
XHTML/DHTML as well). I don't know how soon it will be, since finals
are in a month. Revised the colors in the logs; hopefully they won't
be so gray now. Added the About Blank Slate
page and moved most of the home page text there. Revised the
home page text. Added the The Name section to the About Blank Slate
page.
Monday, 3-18-02
Updated the VAIO page. My Wacom
Graphire tablet should arrive today, and once I get it set up,
I'll update the USB portion of the VAIO page. I wish I had a
Firewire device so I could test the port on here. Oh well. :)
Added some system files to my Linux
page.
Tuesday, 3-12-02
Revised some text. Alphabetized the stuff on the
About page. Put dates on the
My Music page and changed the sort
order so the newest pieces are first. I hadn't realized it had
been over a year since I last composed anything. Wow.
Monday, 3-11-02
Added Greyscape and BYU-UUG to the
Gallery.
Saturday, 3-9-02
I spent the morning making a new logo, adding the bread crumb (or
whatever it's called -- the thing under the main links), revising some
of the text, and cleaning up the PHP files. I really like the new
look, especially the colors. And the bread crumb is very nice. I
added a Blank Slate history section to the Web
Development page, complete with screenshots of the four revisions
the site has gone through. Added blankslate.png to the
Gallery. I probably ought to start
including names on the Gallery pictures... In fact, I think I'll put
that in right now. Did that. Added Blank Slate II to the Gallery.
Also added the BYU-UUG logo page, which'll
only be up till the logos are voted on. Added Eclectic to the
Gallery.
Friday, 3-8-02
I was originally going to host blankslate.net with the same company as
we were hosting BestScopes.com
on, namely Eclipse Hosting.
But then I realized it would be easier to just set up my own account. I
did some searching for hosts and found
eHostPros.com, which is a really good deal. So I signed up
and hopefully will move the site over soon.
Thursday, 3-7-02
I registered blankslate.net, which will be the future home of this
site. (Which means that it will be renamed from the slate to
Blank Slate.) The idea is that in starting with a blank slate you're
free to choose from a myriad of creative possibilities. (I'm sticking
with the slate image, which ties in with writing, drawing, drafting,
etc.) With a blank slate you aren't bound by old ideas which may or
may not be right. I don't mean this in any kind of tradition-breaking
sense (e.g. breaking free from organized religion), but rather in a
strictly creative sense -- scrapping old drafts of a manuscript,
erasing pencil lines on a drawing, etc. Anyway, I have to check with
my web host to see if I can host a second site on their servers without
having to sign up for a new account. The domain won't be up for a
while, especially because I have three tests next week and 250 pages of
Anna Karenina and I'm way behind. It'll be hard to concentrate
since I want to transfer this over very much. :)
Wednesday, 3-6-02
Revised some of the homepage text. Added the
Tutorials page. Switched my
preference from Konqueror to Galeon on the
Linux page. Added the PLUG logo to the
Gallery. Renamed the Romanticism page
to Romance so it won't be so confusing (the
page has nothing to do with historical Romanticism). Added some
redirection files.
Tuesday, 3-5-02
Changed the links at the top of each page so that they're
capitalized. Added a Mutt section to the
Linux page.
Monday, 3-4-02
Added the SDL section to the Programming
Links page. Added more links to the Game
Music page. Added a tile-based games section to the Programming
Links page.
Saturday, 3-2-02
Added the Programming section. Changed
the Current Reading section over to
the weblog format, like I've done with the
writing log and the
weblog and this news page and everything else
like that.
Friday, 3-1-02
Added the bit to the Linux page about
how I got started with Linux back in the old days. Wrote in my
weblog and
writing log. Added the penpal blurb to the
About page. Added some Perl and Python links
to the Computer Links page. Added some
vi/vim links and some religion links. Added the shell scripting
section to the Computer Links page and some more programming links.
Added the geography section to the Science/Math
page.
Thursday, 2-28-02
Added the Document/Text Processing page
to the Computers page. Added the SVG
and Sketch sections to the Art Software
page. Added lots of links. Added the PHP section to the
Computer Links page.
Wednesday, 2-27-02
Added the links section to the VAIO page.
Added more links to the Science/Math page.
Tuesday, 2-26-02
Added some links to the History page and to
the Art Software page.
Monday, 2-25-02
I normalized the heading capitalization (now the main headings are
always capitalized, but the others aren't except for the first letter).
Added a bit to the Biographical Information section of the
About page. Moved the About the slate
section links to the front page. Moved the Ben's
Life section (my weblog) to a new page. I like having the link
section at the bottom of the front page, since that means I can add
miscellaneous stuff without having to create yet another section.
Added a fair amount of links. Added the
semiotics and typography and
stereograms and
architecture sections. Added the three freewriting sessions to
the Writing page.
Friday, 2-22-02
I realized that I had copyright statements on all the source files for
Striker, so I took those off and bumped
the version number up to 0.22. Also added Moonlight to the
Gallery. Updated the modem part of the
VAIO page.
Monday, 2-18-02
Added the Ben's Life section to the front
page. It'll be a kind of journal (which wouldn't really fit in on
this page). Added Shadows of the Beyond to the
Fiction page. Added an index to
the About page. Added the technology
section to the About page.
Saturday, 2-9-02
Split up the Music and
Visual Art sections. Added the date column to the
Gallery. Added some more stuff to the
Linux page. Added the Favorites section
to the Music page. Updated the site map (I
hadn't realized I had forgotten to update it). Updated the
VAIO page. Added more stuff to the
Writing page. Added the
Homeschool page. Wrote more than I
expected to for it. :) Added the Favorite
Scriptures page.
Monday, 2-4-02
Added Mbrot to the Gallery and removed
the Howler and Slate logos (which weren't very good anyway, frankly).
Saturday, 2-2-02
Added Deep Space to the Gallery. Also
wrote a PHP add_pic() function to make adding art to the Gallery
easier. And I decided to list the artwork newest first rather than the
other way. The Striker font I'd
included in 0.2 was the wrong one, so I put the right one in and
changed the version to 0.21. Added the second Pixelspace screenshot to
the Striker page. And added it (minus the Carto stuff) to the
Gallery. I don't know why I'm doing all this today, since I
have three tests next week (two on Monday and one on Tuesday) and I
really ought to be studying for them...
Friday, 2-1-02
Added the Chivalry section to my Romanticism
page. Also updated the modem part of the VAIO
page.
Thursday, 1-24-02
Updated Striker (added the README and
the 0.2 version). Took 0.1 off since it's quite obsolete now. Also
added Testgame and Pixelspace. And added the Striker Links page.
Tuesday, 1-22-02
Moved the rest of the Language section into the
lang/ subdirectory. (Half of the pages were in the main directory
before.) Moved the Music pages into the music/
subdirectory. I also took the Gallery (my
art) off the Visual Arts page and into a page
of its own, and moved that into the art/ subdirectory.
Monday, 1-21-02
Added the Game Music and
Tracking pages. Added lots of links
all over the place. I also made individual pages for all the
Computers stuff, so the layout is nicer.
Sunday, 1-20-02
Saturday, 1-19-02
I added the Translation and
Writing Systems pages. I also split up
the Other Languages page, into the Languages pages
(A-E, F-J,
K-O, P-T,
U-Z, and
Miscellaneous). And I added a whole bucketload of links to
those. There are 133 languages on the site now. This is addictive. :)
Friday, 1-18-02
I've redone the site, and not only that, but I've also switched over
to CSS. That way the font won't be grotesquely large on Internet
Explorer anymore. Non-CSS browsers (e.g. Netscape 4.x) should still be
fine, though. I also added my .vimrc, .muttrc, and .dir_colors to the
Computers page. And I added the Other
Languages page.
Thursday, 1-17-02
Today I became possessed with the idea of redoing the site in PHP,
and so that's what I've done. Well, almost -- I got most of it
done tonight, and I'll do the rest tomorrow. PHP is very
cool.
Saturday, 1-12-02
Added meta tags. Also revised some of the text in various
places.
Thursday, 1-10-02
Added the HTML version of Plumley's Coptic Grammar to the
Coptic page.
Saturday, 1-5-02
I realized that I meant biblio.com on the
Books page, not
bibliofind.com. (The latter is just a part of Amazon.)
Saturday, 12-29-01
Added the nutrition bit to the About page.
Also added some more fields to the biographical information section
of that page. Gosh, Christmas break is almost over. It's hard to
believe that it went by so fast. But that's time for you.
Wednesday, 12-26-01
Added the Britain bit to the About page.
Fleshed out the Romanticism section some
more. Added the Writing section.
Added my thoughts on Lord of the Rings (the movie) to the
Tolkien page.
Sunday, 12-16-01
Added 'Hollow Night' to the
poetry section. (I actually wrote it back in March but forgot
about it till now.)
Saturday, 12-15-01
Added 'The Refiner's Fire' to the
poetry section.
Friday, 12-14-01
Added the Linguistics section. I
should probably be studying for finals instead of working on the
site. :) Added the short shirts rant to the About
section.
Thursday, 12-13-01
Added more quotes. Added some more to the My
Beliefs page. Put the Revelation 12:22 thing on the
LDS Q&A page.
Saturday, 12-8-01
Added Project X to the Striker page.
(I'd had the zipfile on the site for the past two years, but
apparently I forgot to add it to the download page. Oops. :))
Wrote the language learning material and
added lots of quotes. Also put in the
language links. They're still rather unsorted,
though. I'll get them in respectable condition after finals are over.
Friday, 12-7-01
Worked more on the site. It's getting there...
Thursday, 12-6-01
Revised a lot of the text and added most of the new stuff (I'm
still working on it). I'm quite pleased with the results so
far.
Wednesday, 12-5-01
I've reorganized the site. It's not entirely finished,
however, as I have to write much more text (for all the new
sections, like the Inklings section
and so on). I decided that lowercase headings weren't really my
style, so they are all capitalized sanely now. :) (I've kept
the slate in lowercase, however. Though that might change
too. Probably better to stay consistent.)
Friday, 11-2-01
School has kept me quite busy, thus no updates (till today). I
slightly modified the about me
section to reflect the fact that I'm now at BYU. I revised the
books and
languages section, removed
New Moon and the yagec logo from the
art section (they're not really all
that good; don't worry, you won't miss them :)), and revised some
other text. I added 'The Unseen'
to the fiction section and 'Oceanside' to the
poetry section.
Saturday, 9-29-01
I added the POV files for Checkers II and III to the
art section. And I added two links to
the Coptic subsection of the
language section. I haven't had much time
recently due to schoolwork, but hopefully I'll be able to continue
adding things here.
Wednesday, 9-12-01
I removed some of the Checkers series (IV through VII), since they're
really not all that good, and I don't have that much space
anyway. You won't miss them. :) This doesn't have anything to
do with the slate, but you're probably aware of the tragedy in
New York City yesterday. Everyone here is pretty shook up about it.
It's quite surreal.
Monday, 9-3-01
I added my old Striker pages to the site
(under the computers section). I also
revised some of the homepage text and added more entries to the
thoughts section. Later on, I added
the Checker series (II through VII) to the art
section. And I added Coptic to the
languages section.
Thursday, 8-30-01
I fixed some broken links (when I made the
writing subsections, all the
links to my poetry and fiction were pointing to the wrong place because
they were one level deeper in the filesystem than they used to be). I
also revised the text on the art section,
and I rewrote most of the text for the homepage (index.html).
Wednesday, 8-29-01
I split up the writing section into
poetry, fiction, and thoughts subsections.
Tuesday, 8-28-01
I added the Employee Central logo to the art
section, and also put all of the artwork there into a table and added some
commentary. Later on, I added two Blender images I made (this evening)
and resized the thumbnails so they're all 75 pixels in width. And I
added a column to the table listing which software I used to create each
image.
Monday, 8-27-01
I finished the Sony VAIO section. I'm not
completely satisfied with it, but it'll work for now.
Monday, 8-20-01
I tightened the kerning on the 'the slate' text in the logo.
Friday, 8-17-01
I added the computers section and started
writing a little bit of the Sony VAIO HOWTO.
Tuesday, 8-14-01
Wednesday, 7-4-01
Well, it's not even noon yet and I've already finished the
update. I added a few poems and short stories, added three sections
(languages, books,
and about me), removed three sections
(programming, Linux, and feedback -- the first because I'm really not
into that anymore, the second because I didn't care to keep it up (I
still use Linux at work and at home, though), and the third since
e-mail is easier), and revised the text for the remaining sections
(luckily it needed less work than I thought).
Tuesday, 7-3-01
Voices began whispering in my head a few weeks ago, saying,
'Sssslate...sssslate.' Eventually I got the message and realized it had
been too long since I've done anything on this site (obviously -- look at
the last news entry). So I'm redesigning it now. I moved it over to a
Makefile-based system, which works much better. I also redid the layout
(it's totally different) and I'll be rewriting much of the text tomorrow.
I'll also be adding a few new sections (languages and books, mainly).
Friday, 2-16-01
Not much news other than that I haven't had time to make any
changes recently. When I moved the site to www.bestscopes.com (a
week or so ago), I did end up with quite a few broken links,
however, so I fixed those today.
Tuesday, 12-26-00
I added 'A Frolic Through the Garden', 'The Lost Galleon',
and 'Steel Battalion' to the music
page.
Saturday, 11-25-00
I decided to redo the site design. I like this one much more than
the old layout.
Friday, 11-24-00
I added two pieces of music: 'Medieval
Dreams' and 'After the Dance.' The updates are still few and far
between, sadly. When Christmas break arrives, I think I'm going to do
some major work on this site; I'd like to add a
reading list (i.e. the books I've
read, am reading, and plan to read), add a language
page (I'm really into Latin and Greek
now), rewrite all the pages (my prose is too verbose many times), and
fix the huge navigation links on the left (the 'bricks'). We'll see,
though.
Saturday, 10-7-00
I added four pieces of music: 'The
Magician and the King', 'First Snow', 'A Song to the Savior', and
'Jewish Dance.' Sorry the updates are so few and far between, but
school's keeping me rather busy at the moment.
Saturday, 7-15-00
Saturday, 7-8-00
I added 'Village of the Mannikins' to the
music page.
Wednesday, 7-5-00
I made a few changes, typo fixes, and such. There were a few font
problems, too (they were too big under Windows), so I fixed
those.
Tuesday, 7-4-00
Initial rendition of the site set up. The music,
writing, art,
and programming sections are up. In fact,
everything's up except for the feedback form. I'm not quite sure how I
want that (the form) to work, which is why I'm waiting until later to do
it. Other than that, though, all systems are go.
Monday, 7-3-00
Preliminary design work, brainstorming, etc.
